We had a bad storm last night. The wind was so incredibly strong! Everything was blowing around. Jacob had to go out and try to tie down and secure things around here. And get all the animals safely locked into the barn. Because the storm came suddenly. And it was very strong!
So bad that our power went out. And our landlines. We had no cable, no internet, and cellphones barely worked. I'm not sure how people survive through real scary weather...like tornadoes.
But we were lucky. We're perfect and healthy! None of our animals died or got hurt. For the most part, our plants and trees survived the storm. Our neighbors weren't so lucky. They're trees fell on their house. And they aren't completely sure of what kind of damage they're looking at. They stayed with us last night. And have an inspector checking their house today.
Today, the weather is perfect! And Amelie is all smiles. Is it possible for newborns to smile? Or am I just imagining these things? Well, Jacob is working hard to clean up the property. And I'm going to spend the day snuggling with Amelie. Thanking God that he kept us all safe. ★

Days and Night
Don't babies usually have their days and nights all mixed up? Amelie had hers completely confused. Until 2 nights ago. Now she knows when to be awake and when to sleep. And she only gets up twice at night to feed. She eats, burps, has her diaper changed, and goes right back to sleep.
But until that time, it was rough. Oh, and my days and nights are all mixed up too! And I have to be up to feed Amelie. Because I'm breastfeeding. So this chair has been my best friend! I thought it was expensive when we bought it. But I'm so glad we bought it!
With the matching ottoman. A complete necessary!
Honestly, this was our best purchase! It's so comfy. And necessary for our late night feedings and snuggle time. I'm glad we decided to invest a little more money in a nice chair for the nursery. ★

Joking with my Mom
We've been joking with my mom since Amelie was born. If she would have read our blog, she would see that our baby girl's name is Amelie. No, she reads my tweets. After all, she is the one that gets on me when I haven't posted.
So on twitter yesterday, I posted that Amelie's name is Norah Amelie. I told her that I named our little girl after Nora from Brothers and Sisters. She got so made at me! I'm not lying. Mom, I'm only joking!
I do think names are very important. And it took Jacob and I until we went to the hospital to come up with Amelie's name. It was that important. And we decide to honor a special family member. We didn't name our little angel after a silly character, from a TV show.
So breathe mom. Your granddaughter has a beautiful name. That matches her so well! And she is perfect. I promise to take care of her to the best of my ability. And I promise, to always put her needs first. I'm a mom now. And it's very important to remember that Amelie comes first! ★

Amelie Lynn
Our little angel finally arrived! Last night at 11:58pm. Jacob said that she wanted to be a "Tax Baby." And she barely made it by midnight!
Anyway, for the good stuff. Amelie Lynn was born on April 15th. She weighed 7lbs and 10 oz. Big girl! Oh, and she is 19 1/2 inches long. But she's so cute! And looks a lot like her daddy. :)
We'll be at the hospital another day or so. Actually, I'm not sure. But that's what the nurse told us. I can't wait to go home with my new family! ★

4 Days Overdue
Yes, I'm 4 days overdue! What the heck do I do? I really can't handle being pregnant any longer. I'm HUGE! And I really can't do much. So I started doing some research. Lola works with my OB/GYN. And she suggested sex. Are you serious? I highly doubt Jacob wants to come near me. But if labor doesn't start by tonight, well I might have to try.
But I did find this website. With lots of other great things to try. Because spicy food doesn't work when you have enjoyed it your entire life! So we're all adults here. Yes, I might have to look past the fact that I'm a good 35lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight. And that I can barely breathe when I talk. But if having some alone time with my hubby helps to start my labor, I'm all in. You know, that's how we made this little girl in the first place! ★
*Sorry mom, grandma, and anyone else that reads this and wants to die! But I seriously can't take another day of being pregnant!

Due Date
Well, it's come and gone. But our baby girl has decided that no one is going to tell her when she is going to come! Oh boy! I don't know what I'm supposed to do to shake things up. My mom tells me that I need to be patient. She was 10 days overdue with my brother. What? 10 days! I don't think I can last another 10 days. So let's hope our little girl comes before than. Well, at least it gives Jacob and I a few more days to think about names...★

Hospital Bag
We've packed our hospital bag. Or I should says bags. As in 2. Plus a diaper bag, my purse, and a laptop case. What the heck? Why do we need so many? I'm not sure. But Jacob found this website. And took the brochure from our doctor. And that's how many bags we came up with.
Now all we have to do is sit and wait. I'm so excited to meet our daughter. But I know that she needs to stay inside me until she is ready to come out. Logically, our daughter is physically ready. You know, she's developed and healthy. Now, things are just up to her. Let's hope that she doesn't decide to stay inside me for another 2 weeks! ★

Happy Easter
I just wanted to take the time say Happy Easter. It's such a wonderful holiday! And not just because I got to buy a new Easter dress and got a big basket of Easter candy. But the entire religious aspect of the holiday. You know, Jesus gave his life for us. And on Easter, he rose. Religion is such an amazing thing. I can't wait to share this with our little girl! ★

Moses Basket
I never knew what the heck a Moses Basket was. Until my brother in law and sister in law came to visit us. With their then infant baby. I was so amazed by this little thing. So I was so excited when they got us our very own Moses Basket! Isn't it cute? It even comes with a little matching blanket.
What I've learned, is that this is an essential during the first few weeks/months. When you want to keep your baby close. And your baby wants to sleep. I hear that I will be almost still physically attached to my little girl. Being that I'm breastfeeding. So our little basket/cradle should really come in handy! ★

Diaper Bags
I've got a great big brother and sister in law. And I wanted to share the gifts that they got out little girl. Or maybe they're more gifts for Jacob and I. Being that we're going to be the ones using them. :)
This is a little pouch. And it holds a changing pad, a small pack of wipes, and a few diapers. Perfect for when you're going to the store or something. You know, a quick trip.
This is something somewhat similar to the 1st. But it's larger. The entire thing folds out to be a changing pad. And inside, you can store a few diapers, maybe a change of clothes, and wipes. I'm thinking, I can throw this in my purse if I'm going to a friend's house for a quick visit.
And this is the diaper bag that I wanted. I like that it's not pink. I'm sure Jacob will appreciate that too. I didn't want a completely masculine or feminine bag. More of something in the middle. It's a large bag with lots of great pockets. It's a nice size. That tall thing is a bottle bag. Not sure what I'm going to use it for. Because I'm going to breastfeed. and the flat bag, I think I'm going to use it for dirty clothes when we're out.
As you can see, we were hooked up! Thank you guys! Jacob and I are so excited! And if that wasn't enough, my brother and sister in law got us some diapers and wipes. :) ★
